Maximum Healing...?



A feeling of health, wellbeing and full healing potential are realized when the Central Nervous System (CNS) is free of tension, torsion and pressure.  The CNS is responsible for regulating and healing the body.  Wouldn’t it makes sense to keep the CNS is free of stress to keep the body healthy as intended?

How does one achieve a feeling of health, wellbeing and healing potential?  How does one keep the CNS free of stress?  One way that I have discovered to achieve such a state is by following a chiropractic lifestyle.  A chiropractic lifestyle consists of two simple things: First, a regular chiropractic adjustment schedule is maintained to keep the CNS free of tension, torsion and pressure from accumulating daily physical, chemical and mental-emotional stressors.  Second, the daily physical, chemical and mental-emotional stressors are minimized.

Chiropractic adjustments, specifically Torque Release Technique adjustments, target primary points of tension on the CNS.  Releasing primary points of tension allow for maximum healing each adjustment.  When adjustments are coupled with reducing chemical stresses by eating an anti-inflammatory diet and supplementation, and reducing physical stresses participating in weekly back care and posture class to rehabilitate the spine.

Starting every third Tuesday of the month I will be teaching a two hour Back Care and Posture Class.  The class is designed to reduce the physical stresses from life by stretching and strengthening key postural muscles.  When posture is rehabilitated the spine moves better and bares gravity appropriately.

Does this sound like someone you know?



A mother of two young children with chronic low back pain is involved in a motor vehicle accident that makes her low back pain worse!  For months she has been in and out of doctor’s offices, physiotherapists, and massage therapist with no real long lasting relief.  Her x-rays and MRI report show that she is suffering with a bulged disc.  Her pain is in her back, hip and down her leg making every day day-to-day activities (even sleeping!) difficult and nearly unbearable.  She finally decides that it is time to try something different  . . . 

Like most people, she came to me wanting a magic wand to tap her spine to make her pain go away.  Unfortunately, it rarely works that way.  In her first couple weeks of chiropractic adjustments, specifically Torque Release Technique adjustments, she wasn’t sure if she was feeling much better as the changes to her perception were marginal.  Then, as if overnight, her pain in her leg began to regress and disappeared completely.  The pain in her spine was not noticeable during the day and was only felt with pressure. And that too went away!  After just a couple of months she is now living without low back pain or leg pain.  She went from desperation and skepticism to thankfulness and believing.

Torque Release Technique or TRT is a very gentle style of chiropractic adjustments.  Gentle but extremely powerful and effective.  TRT adjustments focus on releasing primary points of tension on the Central Nervous System rather than focusing on secondary or tertiary points.  

When you are exposed to strong physical, chemical and mental emotional stresses over a lifetime, the body undergoes natural stress responses.  Healthy individual will go in and out of stress responses as they sense, respond, learn and adapt to their environment.  With strong and prolonged stimuli the stress response can get stuck.  A stuck stress response increases the tension on the central nervous system.  To alleviate that tension, the body creates postural faults, such as a high hip or shoulder, rotated pelvis and forward head carriage as a way to dissipate the tension.  These postural faults lead to fatigue and increased wear and tear on the spine joints and discs.  They are the secondary and tertiary points of tension on the spine and lead to early and sometime permanent degenerative changes.  All those postural faults and degenerative changes can cause discs to bulge (even herniate) and really, really hurt.

Reacting and treating the spinal degenerative changes in the joints and discs will likely provide relief, especially in the beginning of a treatment protocols.  Often times a plateau is reached.  Where once great relief was felt with treatment, only partial and temporary relief is felt after each treatment.  Have you ever wondered why?  It is likely that the treatments were targeting only the secondary and tertiary points of tension and not the primary points.  This explains why relief is felt in the beginning but now no longer provides the same amount of relief. 

Torque Release Technique specializes in identifying the primary points of tension thereby rendering a greater, longer and lasting relief from pain all without manual or much force to spine at all.  It really is quite amazing and impressive how subtle an adjustment can be and yet provide such astonishing relief!

Have you ever asked yourself why the pain never stops?



A question that many people wonder and ask themselves.  The body can heal itself but before the limits of tissue matter is reached.  Read on to find out if your pain can be helped or if the pain has reached the limits of matter. 

The Central Nervous System is responsible for coordinating the healing and rejuvenation process in the body.  All physical traumas and injuries, toxic chemical environmental exposure, nutritional deficiency, and upsetting mental/emotional events are all processed by your Central Nervous System.  These stresses create problems for you.

The body's ability to heal itself is limited by:


  • Time:  how long have you had the problem?
  •  Structure:  Is the affected area is just malfunction or is the affected area showing signs of permanent damage?
  •  Continued Stress:  Are you still under continuous physical, chemical and/or mental emotional stress?


If one or a combination of the above points are present, healing process may reach a point where your body cannot repair as efficiently.  At this point, we say that your body has reached the "limits of matter".  

When signs that the limits of matter have been reached, or your healing is impaired, a stronger emphasis needs to be placed on reducing the stress from the environment. 


  • Extra attention needs to be given to proper exercise and movement to rehabilitate posture.  Attending the regular Back Care and Posture Class to learn how to stretch and strengthen key postural muscles reduces the stress from the physical environment. 
  • Extra attention needs to be given to anti-inflammatory nutrition.  Attending the monthly Zone Anti-inflammatory Diet Workshop reduces the stress from the chemical environment. 
  • Extra attention needs to be given to mental/emotional stress reduction techniques, such as meditation, to reduce the stress from the mental/emotional environment.
  • Extra attention needs to be given to following a regular chiropractic adjustments to restore better Central Nervous System communication with the body.

It is in your best interest to have your spine checked, and checked regularly, to avoid the limits of matter.  A chiropractor is trained to detect spinal tension and misalignments.  When tension and misalignments are corrected before painful signs and symptoms appear, you will likely not experience the pain from the limits of matter. To avoid reaching the limits of matter, I recommend that:
  • Infants, toddlers and children be checked.  Preferably, as soon as possible after birth and after accidents. Because children have no major spinal deterioration, they can reach and maintain a true state of wellness.
  • Adults be checked within one to three days of an accident – any accident! 
o   A physical fall, bump or bruise (like a car accident or sprained ankle)
o   A chemical assault like a bad “cheat” meal, smoke filled air or too much alcohol
o   A major mental/emotional upheaval like news of a death, loss of job, or anything that has emotional significance to you.
